Reiki Healing in Brighton and Hove
for Adults and Children
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique that originated in the late 1800s. Practitioners recognise that the human body has multiple layers of energy fields, which they can harmonise by gently placing their palms directly on the body or hovering over certain areas. This practice channels healing energy through the palms, fostering balance and well-being.
Over the centuries, Reiki has become an extremely popular treatment in the West. It is widely sought after for relaxation, stress relief, and symptom management. While conventional medicine does not always recognise Reiki for what it is, it has gained increasing acceptance in recent decades, even becoming available in some hospitals through charitable organisations.
Reiki is a safe and inclusive spiritual practice. Though its founder, Mikao Usui, was a Japanese Christian, Reiki has always been taught and practised in a way that is free from religious doctrine, making it accessible to people of all beliefs.
Reiki treatments typically take place on a massage table, with the client fully clothed. For those who have difficulty lying down, Reiki can also be delivered while seated in a chair. The experience of receiving Reiki is deeply relaxing and nourishing. Many clients fall asleep during the session and wake feeling recharged, calmer, and more centred.
Reiki can initiate the release of long-held blockages and accelerate balancing processes, which clients may experience in different ways. After your session, you might feel energised and ready to take on the world, or you might feel drawn to relax and reflect. Either response is natural, and it’s a good idea to plan some quiet time afterward to support the healing initiated during your session.
While many people book a single Reiki session for relaxation or out of curiosity, ongoing physical or mental health concerns may benefit from regular follow-ups or recurring appointments.
I personally experienced the transformative power of Reiki in 2014 when I resolved my chronic full-body eczema in five-six sessions. Although I experienced a brief flare-up years later, it was successfully treated with homeopathy and has not returned since. Healing is always possible - it may not always happen, and it may not be straightforward, but the potential is always there.
Reiki offers a gentle and supportive way to help children with a variety of challenges. It can assist with:
Managing anxiety and restlessness
Improving focus and supporting emotional regulation
Easing physical discomfort
Calming sensory sensitivities and emotional overwhelm
Reiki provides a safe, soothing space for children to feel grounded and at ease, particularly during times of stress or change. Sessions for children are shorter than for adults, typically lasting around 30 minutes, depending on their age and needs. Parents or guardians are welcome to remain present during the session to ensure comfort and familiarity.
